Data Center Facility Manager

Position Overview

Join Alibaba Cloud as a Data Center Facility Manager based in Dubai, where you will lead and oversee operations at regional data center facilities, ensuring efficiency, reliability, and adherence to service agreements.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with both internal teams and external partners to establish operational protocols and develop comprehensive Change Management tools, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Emergency Operating Procedures (EOPs) specific to regional colocation data centers.
• Serve as the technical leader managing teams and consultants to uphold smooth operations under normal and emergency conditions.
• Oversee colocation data centers to confirm vendors comply with contractually defined Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
• Support project managers during construction phases by providing administrative assistance; coordinate with stakeholders throughout schematic design, design development, documentation, and commissioning stages of new data center projects.
• Identify and implement energy-efficient strategies aimed at reducing power consumption losses.
• Review and enhance detailed scripts for Change Management Requests (CMR) activities.
• Conduct site visits for engineering evaluations, electrical system audits, startup tests, and comprehensive commissioning as necessary.
• Offer electrical critical systems review services to global data center engineering teams.
• Participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) following equipment failures or power outages.
• Provide clear directives to vendors and contractors while validating the quality of on-site work.
• Respond promptly to emergencies at regional Alibaba data centers, including traveling to affected sites to provide hands-on support.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience leading global large-scale data center facility operations (exceeding 10MW).
• Comprehensive understanding of mechanical, electrical, fire protection, and control systems relevant to data centers.
• Good working knowledge of cloud computing technologies, architectures, and IT service delivery best practices.
• Highly motivated and self-driven with advanced problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
• Familiarity with data center construction processes.
• Willingness and ability to travel both domestically and internationally, potentially up to 50% of the time.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
• Bilingual proficiency in Mandarin Chinese is an advantage due to coordination requirements with headquarters in China.
