Position Overview
The Data Architect role focuses on ensuring that system designs, updates, management, decommissioning, and archiving adhere to data policies throughout the data life cycle, aligned with data strategy. The role includes designing data models, managing metadata, and addressing GDPR compliance through privacy impact assessments and maintaining Records of Processing Activities related to personal data. This role covers Corporate and Institutional Banking in EMEA and Asia regions.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to establish foundational data governance procedures.
- Define and implement data quality metrics and standards.
- Identify and apply best practices for enterprise data management including data scoping, metadata standardization, lineage, deduplication, mapping, transformation, and validation.
- Develop and manage information system structures and data models (including business flows of personal data) using tools such as Abacus in compliance with data policies.
- Train users on information system navigation and data modeling tools.
- Contribute to and update the Data Architecture framework through project analyses and validations.
Required Expertise
- Communicate complex technical concepts effectively across organizational boundaries to non-technical and technical audiences.
- Translate business problems into data designs and create optimal models aligning user needs with organizational goals.
- Develop conceptual, functional, and message data models and reverse engineer models from live systems using recognized standards.
- Lead data standards development and governance, analyzing impacts of breaches.
- Maintain and design metadata repositories ensuring accurate and current data asset information.
- Familiarity with business process data flows, GDPR compliance, privacy impact assessments, and related documentation.
- Use of enterprise tools such as Abacus, Informatica, big data platforms, and Collibra; business intelligence tools like Power BI; and strong Excel skills.
- Knowledge of Functional & Application Architecture, Enterprise Architecture principles, global market activities, and market meta-models like FpML, CDM, ISO2022.
Technical & Behavioral Skills
- Ability to translate and communicate across disciplines and manage challenging team dynamics.
- Competency in creating data visualizations and presentations.
- Innovation mindset to identify business efficiencies and new data opportunities.
Education and Experience
Preferred qualifications include BE/BTech, BSc-IT, BSc-Comp, MSc-IT, MSc-Comp, or MCA degrees with a minimum of 7 years professional experience. Certification in DAMA and experience with GDPR or Privacy by Design is advantageous.
