Data Analyst

Position Overview

The Data Gals are collaborating with a Glasgow-based company of around 60 employees that is expanding its data capabilities by recruiting a Data Analyst. This role is ideal for someone analytical, inquisitive, and with a commercial mindset, eager to contribute beyond traditional reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with various departments such as Marketing, Finance, Operations, and Commercial to understand challenges and identify opportunities where data adds value.
• Analyse datasets to uncover trends, patterns, and opportunities.
• Develop and refine reports, dashboards, and management information systems to provide clear visibility into performance.
• Deliver actionable insights that inform commercial and operational decision-making.
• Support stakeholders in comprehending data insights and guide their subsequent actions.
• Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and other performance metrics.
• Aggregate and validate data from multiple sources ensuring accuracy and utility.
• Identify and implement improvements in reporting processes leveraging data more effectively.
• Present findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Own analytical projects from defining questions to delivering insights.
• Utilise data and emerging AI tools to enhance efficiency and innovate processes.

Qualifications and Traits

Ideal candidates will possess curiosity, strong analytical skills, and commercial awareness. This position is open both to recent graduates with numerical, analytical or STEM backgrounds and candidates with some experience in data analysis or business intelligence roles. Key attributes include:

Technical Skills

• Experience with SQL and/or Python.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
• Competence in working with and analysing datasets.
• Skills in building dashboards and reporting mechanisms.
• Experience in data cleansing and manipulation.
• Understanding of basic statistical analysis.
• Knowledge of KPIs and performance measurement.
• Completed university, personal, or professional data project(s).
