Job description

About the Role

At Lyft, our mission is to serve and connect by nurturing an inclusive workplace where every team member belongs and thrives. Our People Analytics team focuses on building reliable, actionable insights from people data to support HR partners, talent leaders, and executives in decision-making. We are currently transforming our business intelligence approach, having recently transitioned to ThoughtSpot as our main analytics platform. Our goal is not merely to replicate past dashboards but to innovate self-service analytics by leveraging AI-powered features such as natural language queries and proactive insight generation.

We are seeking a Data Analyst based in Toronto to join this dynamic team. Reporting to the Senior Manager, People Analytics, you'll be the primary point of contact for incoming data requests across the People organization. This role offers the opportunity to influence the development of our reporting tools and to expand the use of AI functionalities within ThoughtSpot specifically for people-related data.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the initial contact for data requests, managing scopes, setting expectations, and delivering accurate and high-quality analysis.
  • Design, build, and maintain ThoughtSpot dashboards and liveboards tailored for a diverse audience including recruiters, HR business partners, managers, and executives.
  • Investigate and apply ThoughtSpot's AI capabilities to deliver proactive insights and facilitate natural language data queries for stakeholders.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of survey programs using Qualtrics, encompassing design, deployment logic, and result analysis, integrating findings into dashboards and ad-hoc reports.
  • Collaborate with Talent and People leaders to define critical metrics and communicate insightful narratives based on data.
  • Translate analytical results into clear, actionable recommendations for People leadership and senior management.
  • Communicate effectively across both technical teams and non-technical stakeholders, ranging from detailed SQL discussions to executive presentations.
  • Work closely with system and operations teams to enhance data quality upstream, supporting improved analytic outcomes downstream.
  • Quickly assemble ad-hoc datasets from multiple sources to respond to specific analytic inquiries.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Over 4 years of experience in data or business analytics roles.
  • Minimum of 3 years proficient in SQL, capable of handling complex, multi-source datasets.
  • Hands-on experience with ThoughtSpot or similar modern business intelligence platforms, with a strong interest in AI-driven analytics and their application to HR data.
  • Knowledge of Workday or equivalent human capital management systems, including an understanding of their data models and business processes.
  • Preferred experience with Greenhouse or similar applicant tracking systems.
  • Skilled in administering survey platforms such as Qualtrics, from program setup to analysis preparation.
  • Proven ability to build and sustain reliable analytical models utilized by others.
  • Understanding of people and recruiting data intricacies, including organizational structures, headcount definitions, and privacy considerations.

Benefits and Additional Information

  • Comprehensive health, dental, life insurance, and disability coverage.
  • Support for mental health, family building, child care, and pet care.
  • Access to a company-funded Health Care Savings Account and matched RRSP plan for future savings.
  • Flexible paid time off policy allowing unlimited leave with managerial approval; hourly employees receive 15 PTO days plus additional days based on service tenure.
  • Top-up paid parental leave of 18 weeks applicable to biological, adoptive, and foster parents.
  • Subsidized commuter benefits and Lyft ride credits.

Lyft is dedicated to fostering a diverse and inclusive workforce, providing equal employment opportunities regardless of protected characteristics. We maintain a harassment-free workplace and provide accommodation for persons with disabilities during hiring processes upon request.

This position requires hybrid working with a minimum of three days per week on-site presence in Toronto (specifically Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays). Lyfts offers various in-office perks, and employees may work remotely for up to four weeks annually.

The anticipated salary range for this position in Toronto is CAD 90000 to CAD 112500 annually, excluding potential equity, bonuses, and benefits. Final compensation depends on qualifications, experience, and location.

AI tools may be used during applicant screening but the final hiring decisions are made by Lyft employees. This role is to fill an existing vacancy.
