Job Overview

SG Consulting Limited is seeking a seasoned Senior Data Analyst to join their team in Auckland, New Zealand. The candidate should have prior experience in New Zealand retail IT, particularly within marketing, customer, or competitor analytics, and excel in communicating findings to senior stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Extract, analyze, and transform data leveraging SQL techniques such as joins, filtering, aggregations, views, and optimize queries for efficiency.
• Create and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, and visualizations to aid business strategy and operations.
• Utilize Python for manipulating data, conducting analysis, and generating reports as needed.
• Translate business problems into clear analytical solutions and actionable insights.
• Work extensively with retail datasets encompassing pricing, merchandising, sales and returns, loyalty programs, customer behavior, supply chain, and marketing domains.
• Detect trends, patterns, opportunities, and risks to enhance business outcomes.
• Deliver findings and recommendations through Power BI visuals, Excel spreadsheets, and PowerPoint presentations.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with business users, data scientists, architects, and technical teams to implement successful analytics initiatives.
• Clarify data science results and analytical insights to senior business users with limited technical background.

Required Skills and Experience

• Experience within New Zealand retail IT environments.
• Background in marketing, customer, or competitor analytics.
• Proficient SQL skills with practical experience designing reports and dashboards in Power BI.
• Strong ability to analyze data and transform insights into concrete business actions.
• Track record of presenting insights to senior business decision-makers effectively.
• Solid understanding of retail processes and commercial factors driving business.
• Familiarity with Python for data-related manipulation and analytics tasks.
