Job description
Role Overview
This role entails designing, implementing, and maintaining the cybersecurity framework of the organization to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of IT systems, applications, and data. The individual will oversee and optimize security solutions including intrusion detection and prevention systems, firewalls, endpoint protection, and Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) tools.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement security mechanisms such as multi-factor authentication, role-based access control, and the principle of least privilege.
- Manage user access and authentication processes, performing regular audits to eliminate unauthorized access.
- Lead daily security operations encompassing monitoring, cyber threat detection, and incident response.
- Supervise Security Operations Center activities to ensure rapid issue escalation and resolution.
- Oversee network traffic, system logs, and alert monitoring to identify suspicious or malicious activities.
- Keep up to date with emerging cybersecurity threats and proactively implement risk mitigation strategies.
- Develop and maintain incident response plans and procedures for cybersecurity events.
- Coordinate incident containment and mitigation in partnership with cross-functional teams.
- Conduct root cause analyses for security incidents and create detailed reports including corrective actions.
- Collaborate with IT infrastructure teams to remediate vulnerabilities and prevent recurrence.
- Engage external entities such as law enforcement or cybersecurity vendors when required.
- Perform vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify and prioritize security weaknesses.
- Support enterprise-wide risk assessment and vulnerability management initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with applicable cybersecurity laws and standards such as NCA, ISO 27001, NIST, GDPR, and HIPAA.
- Conduct periodic audits and assessments verifying policy and procedure adherence.
- Maintain documentation essential for audits and certification processes.
- Track and report overall compliance status including any exceptions.
- Create, implement, and enforce cybersecurity policies, standards, and procedures throughout the organization.
- Review and update security policies regularly to reflect new threats, technologies, and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure systems and processes adhere to approved security configurations and baselines.
- Design and deliver cybersecurity awareness sessions and simulated phishing exercises to staff.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to IT and security personnel.
- Offer security advice and support for routine employee concerns and questions.
- Promote a strong organizational culture of security vigilance and awareness.
- Manage a team of cybersecurity analysts and technicians including task assignment and performance evaluation.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related discipline.
- Between six and eight years of professional experience in cybersecurity, including leadership responsibilities.
Skills and Competencies
- In-depth knowledge of cybersecurity principles, technologies, and industry best practices.
- Hands-on experience with security technologies such as firewalls, SIEM, IDS/IPS, endpoint protection, and Data Loss Prevention (DLP) tools.
- Understanding of local cybersecurity regulations including NCA controls.
- Familiarity with network protocols, operating systems, and cloud computing environments, including hybrid configurations.
- Preferred certifications include CISSP, CISA, CEH, or CompTIA Security+.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, and effective communication abilities.
- Capacity to manage priorities effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced setting based on risk and potential impact.
