Role Overview

The Cyber Security Architect reports to the Cyber Security Manager - Surface Ships and is tasked with implementing effective cyber security safeguards for digital and operational technology systems, ensuring adherence to compliance standards. Collaboration with Cyber Security and Architecture teams is key for designing secure systems aligned with organizational risk strategies. A solid grasp of ICT systems and current security protocols is essential for mitigating cyber risks throughout project delivery.

Primary Responsibilities

• Deliver security guidance across the project lifecycle, ensuring alignment with security standards, procedures, and control measures based on risk and regulatory needs.
• Partner with Digital, Data, and Cyber teams to advance a Modern Defensible Architecture.
• Offer expert security consultation and design input concerning Cloud, Web, Application, IT, IoT, and Operational Technology environments.
• Lead threat modelling and risk assessment initiatives within the Surface Ships domain.
• Maintain up-to-date insight into the Surface Ships ICT security landscape and proactively suggest improvements.
• Assist in researching and developing future-focused security architectures consistent with business strategies and security principles.
• Coordinate with the wider Cyber Security Group to align cyber architecture artifacts and mentor colleagues while providing expert cyber security counsel.

Key Qualifications and Skills

• Proven experience covering Identity, Network Security, Cloud Security, Infrastructure, Operating Systems, and Applications.
• Familiarity with Operational Technology is advantageous.
• Knowledgeable about Information Security Manual and international security standards such as NIST, ISO, PCI DSS applicable to ICT security.
• Well-versed in Enterprise and Security Architecture frameworks including SABSA and TOGAF.
• Experienced in guiding project execution through secure solution design and security principle implementation.
• Possession of professional certifications like CISSP or CISM is a plus.
• A degree in ICT or a related engineering discipline is preferred.
• Capability to obtain Defence security clearance NV1 and eligibility for ITAR compliance clearance.
