Cutting Master

Job Overview

The position of Cutting Master involves overseeing the cutting process within the cutting and production department of a school uniform and hosiery garment manufacturing unit. The role requires precise cutting of various garments, including T-shirts, track pants, tracksuits, sweatshirts, and other hosiery items, adhering closely to size charts, patterns, and designs.

Key Responsibilities

• Accurately mark and cut fabric according to specified size charts, patterns, and designs.
• Assess fabric quality, width, stretch, GSM, and grain direction to plan cutting effectively.
• Minimize fabric wastage while maximizing utilization.
• Manage proper lay planning, marker planning, and layering for all sizes.
• Verify patterns, sizes, and quantities before cutting.
• Sort all cut parts by size, color, design, and order after cutting.
• Prevent cutting errors such as measurement mistakes, uneven cuts, size mixing, or panel mismatches.
• Coordinate with the production team to ensure timely availability of cutting materials.
• Implement pattern and cutting adjustments as required by new designs or samples.
• Ensure safe and correct use of cutting machines and other equipment.
• Maintain quality, precision, and meet production targets in the cutting section.
• Distribute tasks among cutting helpers/staff and supervise their work.
• Keep proper records and ensure utilization of leftover fabrics and cutting waste.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• 3 to 5 years or more experience as a Cutting Master in school uniform, hosiery, or garment manufacturing.
• Strong understanding of hosiery and knitted fabrics.
• Hands-on experience cutting different sizes and patterns.
• Knowledgeable about fabric consumption and controlling wastage.
• Ability to comprehend measurements and size charts.
• Capability to manage teams and meet production deadlines.
• Must demonstrate accuracy, speed, and a focus on quality in work.
