Job description

Overview

DSV is a global leader in transport and logistics, committed to building a world-class logistics network through innovation and growth. We are seeking a diligent Customs Specialist to join our team at Mercia Park, Swadlincote, England. This full-time position involves 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with an additional requirement to work half a day one Saturday per month.

Key Responsibilities

  • Handle customs processing accurately and efficiently for customers, adhering to AEO standards.
  • Maintain clear communication with various internal departments and clients, providing updates or escalating issues as necessary.
  • Monitor vessel arrivals proactively using customer-supplied data to ensure timely customs entries.
  • Prevent shipment delays by preparing and submitting customs clearances in advance and closely tracking timelines.
  • Confirm customs clearances promptly to customers and freight forwarders while keeping inbound clearance logs current and precise.
  • Maintain and securely store original customs documentation for audit compliance and ensure internal customs logs are consistently updated.
  • Collaborate with the Customs Team Lead to ensure timely submission of monthly FSD reports covering all customs warehouse operations.
  • Accurately create and process customer export declarations and related T1 documents as required.
  • Verify and submit accurate data within the Customs Warehouse Duty Management System.

Candidate Profile

  • Previous practical experience in customs operations or related roles.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, with advanced expertise in Excel.
  • Self-driven individual with a positive mindset and strong organizational skills to plan and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Excellent communication abilities for interactions at all levels within and outside the organization.
  • Possession of a valid full driving licence.
