Role Overview
The Customs Clearance Executive role is based full-time on-site in Abu Dhabi. This position involves overseeing customs clearance processes for both imports and exports while ensuring full compliance with UAE customs regulations and international trade rules. Key duties include preparing, verifying, and managing shipping and customs documentation, engaging with customs authorities and freight forwarders, and coordinating internal teams. The executive will also monitor shipment progress to guarantee timely clearance and delivery, maintain detailed records, address any discrepancies or clearance challenges, update relevant information systems, and report to management regularly. Supporting process optimization and adhering to company policies to maintain efficient and compliant trade operations is also essential.
Qualifications and Skills
- In-depth understanding of UAE customs regulations, import/export protocols, and trade compliance requirements.
- Experience handling essential documentation such as invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, and customs declarations.
- Familiarity with logistics, customs clearance software, ERP platforms, and shipment tracking systems.
- Strong organizational capabilities and attention to detail, capable of managing multiple shipments and deadlines simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills to collaborate effectively with customs officials, suppliers, and internal departments.
- Analytical aptitude to resolve issues related to clearance, regulatory compliance, and shipment discrepancies.
- Previous experience in logistics, freight forwarding, trading, or similar operational roles is highly advantageous.
- A relevant diploma or bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or related disciplines is preferred.
- Proficiency in English is required; knowledge of Arabic is considered a plus.
