Role Overview
This hands-on and community-centered role supports the daily maintenance and safety of local civil infrastructure. As a key liaison between the public and the Civil Maintenance team, you will deliver transparent communication, superior service, and excellent customer experience. Your commitment will help promote safer roads and public spaces while solving community issues through effective problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide professional, empathetic, and clear support to customers.
- Investigate and address requests, hazards, and defects related to roads, footpaths, and drainage systems.
- Carry out inspections consistent with the Road Management Plan, collecting precise field data.
- Assist with emergency response activities, including occasional after-hours duties.
- Have knowledge of earth-moving machinery and contribute to minor civil construction improvement tasks.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Experience working directly with customers, maintaining calmness and focusing on solutions.
- Strong communication skills to effectively manage community expectations and establish trust.
- Aptitude for gathering accurate field data, encompassing photographic evidence, measurements, and written evaluations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Reflect, and other council-specific software.
- Understanding of civil infrastructure components such as roads, drainage, footpaths, and street furniture.
- Possession of a valid Victorian driver’s license, Construction Induction Card, Level 2 First Aid Certificate, and traffic management accreditation.
- Physical ability to undertake manual labour; preferably holding a Certificate III in civil construction, road transport, or a related field.

- Position designated as Band 4, full-time and ongoing.
