Job description
Role Overview
We are seeking a passionate Customer Service Assistant to join the team at One Stop, part of the Tesco Group, working in a dynamic retail environment. This role involves contributing actively to daily store operations by delivering exceptional customer service, managing stock replenishment, handling transactions, and maintaining the store’s presentation. A customer-centric approach is essential, including continuous efforts to enhance service through coaching and feedback. The role also emphasizes maintaining a safe working and shopping environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver personalized and enthusiastic service while understanding customer needs.
- Encourage customers to provide shopping feedback by promoting the ‘have your say’ survey.
- Perform tasks across various store departments — including online sales support, checkouts, stock replenishment, vending, and inventory management.
- Implement health and safety training to ensure a safe workplace.
- Participate in seasonal, community, and charitable events to foster an inclusive atmosphere.
- Keep informed about the store’s performance metrics and collaboratively work towards profitability.
- Adhere to company values and policies, ensuring a welcoming environment for everyone.
- Accurately clock in and out to guarantee correct pay for hours worked.
- Maintain security by following procedures and using available safety equipment.
- Strictly apply the Think 25 policy when serving age-restricted products.
- Respond promptly to self-service checkout assistance calls, communicating clearly with customers.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of aisles to avoid congestion.
- Take on leadership responsibility during Shift Leader or Store Manager absence at times.
- Follow all safety and legal training to protect yourself, colleagues, and customers.
- If operating in a store with a Post Office Local, undertake and pass necessary financial and criminal background checks for Post Office duties; failure to pass will result in job offer withdrawal.
Employee Benefits
- Flexible work arrangements to accommodate different life stages and needs.
- Opportunity to be part of a community-focused environment supporting local charities and social causes.
- Access to a broad range of colleague benefits as part of One Stop, an independent business within the Tesco Group.
- Engagement with colleague networks supporting Armed Forces, Disability, LGBTQ+, Families & Carers, Race & Ethnicity, and Women’s groups.
- A welcoming and inclusive workplace recognized as a Disability Confident Leader (Level 3), offering reasonable adjustments throughout recruitment and beyond.
Community and Inclusion Initiatives
One Stop is deeply committed to community involvement, having raised over £10.4 million for various good causes and donated 1.6 million meals through partnerships aimed at reducing food waste and supporting vulnerable populations. The company values diversity and inclusivity, ensuring a respectful environment that champions fairness and equal opportunity for all colleagues.
