About the Role
Serving as Tesco’s representative on the roads, Customer Delivery Drivers interact directly with customers at their homes daily. This position involves more than just driving; it’s centered on assisting people and providing excellent service with a friendly attitude. The work is active and varied, with no two shifts alike. While primarily working independently during deliveries, supportive managers and teammates are available at the store to assist as needed.
Drivers start at £14.18 per hour, increasing to £15.45 in stores within the M25 area, with some locations offering further additional pay. Positions guarantee a minimum of 16 hours per week, though some roles start from 12 hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of vans, trays, and workstations to ensure customer orders arrive in excellent condition.
- Safely load the delivery vehicle and perform pre-trip checks to confirm it's fit and ready for service.
- Communicate kindly and clearly with customers regarding any order modifications, substitutions, or near-expiry items, providing refunds where appropriate to ensure a smooth and positive experience.
- Handle items carefully, treating every delivery as if it were personal to uphold quality and customer loyalty.
- Deliver orders strictly within scheduled time slots, offering warm and genuine interaction at the customer’s doorstep to foster a feeling of being appreciated and well cared for.
Candidate Requirements
- Develop strong partnerships with colleagues to foster a collaborative team environment.
- Exhibit a friendly and approachable demeanor towards both customers and co-workers.
- Adapt quickly to changing customer demands and embrace flexibility both on the road and at the store.
- Possess a valid UK/EU/EEA driving licence (full or automatic) held for at least one year with no more than three penalty points.
Employee Benefits
- Start with 20 days holiday plus a personal day, increasing to 22 days after one year, excluding bank holidays.
- Flexible scheduling options available from the first day of employment.
- Enjoy a 10% discount through the Colleague Clubcard, increasing to 15% on pay-day weekends, plus an additional card to share with family members.
- Access free well-being services supporting mental, physical health, and life balance.
- Life insurance coverage valued at five times your salary, alongside a pension plan with up to 7.5% matched contributions.
- Choose from a variety of benefits including discounts, share ownership, and cycle-to-work schemes.
- Uniforms provided along with supportive policies addressing important life events.
