Job description

Role Overview

Join Tesco as a Customer Delivery Driver based in Macclesfield, where you will become the friendly face representing Tesco to customers during their deliveries. This position is about delivering excellent service alongside driving, involving physical activity and a variety of tasks. You'll mostly operate independently throughout your shifts, supported by a team back at the base when needed.

Working Hours

  • Sunday: 5 PM to 11 PM
  • Monday: 5 PM to 11 PM
  • Thursday: 5 PM to 11 PM
  • Friday: 5 PM to 11 PM

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of your vehicle, trays, and work area to ensure customers receive their orders in impeccable condition.
  • Load the delivery van safely and perform necessary checks to confirm it is roadworthy and dependable.
  • Communicate clearly and kindly with customers about any changes to their orders such as substitutions or short-dated products while facilitating refunds as needed to keep experiences positive.
  • Handle all items carefully, treating each order with great care to uphold quality and customer confidence.
  • Deliver orders punctually within assigned time slots, providing warm, genuine service at customers' doorsteps to make them feel valued.

Candidate Requirements

  • Develop strong teamwork and cooperative relationships with colleagues to ensure excellent service for customers.
  • Be personable and friendly in interactions with both customers and coworkers.
  • Adapt swiftly to customer demands and embrace changes both on the road and at the store.
  • Hold a valid UK, EU, or EEA driving licence (full or automatic) for at least one year, with no more than three penalty points.

  • Starting hourly pay of £14.18, rising to £15.45 in stores within the M25; some locations may add extra payments.
