Class 5 Driver - Timaru

Role Overview

Join Visy's Logistics Intermodal Team as a full-time Class 5 Driver operating primarily in the Timaru Metro area with occasional regional trips. This permanent position offers stable weekly work hours beginning early morning shifts from 5am. Driving a modern, meticulously maintained fleet, drivers will be key contributors to efficient container freight transport.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate Class 5 container trucks, including single or double truck & trailer combinations, to ensure timely freight pick-up and delivery.
• Maintain positive customer relationships by providing courteous and reliable service.
• Perform comprehensive pre-trip vehicle inspections for roadworthiness and compliance.
• Keep accurate electronic records and complete necessary documentation.
• Adhere strictly to all company policies, transport regulations, fatigue management, and Chain of Responsibility laws.
• Ensure freight is securely restrained following load guidelines during transport.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Valid clean Class 5 driving license.
• Preferred experience driving Class 5 Skeletal Trailer trucks and container transport.
• Familiarity with various trailer types such as Side Curtain, Swinglift, Truck & Trailer, and Container Trailers is advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of the Canterbury Region, especially Timaru Metro and Ports.
• Excellent communication and time management skills coupled with a strong safety and teamwork focus.
• Deep understanding of road, fatigue, and load restraint regulations.
• Commitment to upkeep and presentation of vehicles and equipment.
