About the Role

As a Customer Delivery Driver, you will represent Tesco on the road, connecting directly with customers at their homes. This position requires more than just driving; it involves assisting customers and delivering exceptional service with a positive attitude. The job is hands-on and physically engaging, offering varied tasks every shift. While much of the work is conducted independently, you will have the support of managers and teammates at the base when needed.

Your work schedule includes shifts on Fridays and Saturdays from 12:30 PM to 11:00 PM.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of your van, trays, and workspace to ensure every delivery arrives in excellent condition.
  • Safely load the vehicle and perform all necessary checks to confirm it is safe and reliable for deliveries.
  • Communicate clearly and kindly with customers regarding any order adjustments, substitutions, or nearing expiration items, providing refunds as appropriate to maintain a smooth experience.
  • Handle all products carefully, treating each order with respect to uphold quality and trust.
  • Deliver orders punctually within designated time slots, offering warm and attentive service at the doorstep to foster customer satisfaction and loyalty.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Ability to cultivate strong team relationships to promote a supportive work environment and excellent customer service.
  • Approachable and friendly demeanor with both customers and colleagues.
  • Adaptability to respond promptly to evolving customer demands and changes faced on the road and at the store.
  • Possession of a full or automatic UK, EU, or EEA driving license held for a minimum of 12 months, with no more than three penalty points.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Starting wage at £14.18 per hour, increasing to £15.45 in stores located within the M25; some locations may provide additional pay incentives.
  • Guaranteed minimum of 16 work hours per week; opportunities for roles starting from 12 hours are also available.
  • Annual holiday entitlement beginning at 20 days plus a personal day, rising to 22 days after one year, excluding bank holidays.

  • 10% Colleague Clubcard discount, increasing to 15% on pay-day weekends, with a second card for family sharing.
