About the Role
As the representative of Tesco on the road, Customer Delivery Drivers engage directly with customers at their homes daily. This role involves much more than just driving; it focuses on offering excellent customer service with a friendly attitude. The job is physically engaging and varied, with each shift bringing new experiences. Drivers operate independently for most of their shift but have the support of managers and team members at the store as needed.
Pay for Customer Delivery Drivers starts at 14.18 per hour, increasing to 15.45 for those within the M25 area; additional payments may apply at certain locations. A minimum of 16 hours per week is guaranteed, with opportunities for roles starting from 12 hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the delivery van, trays, and workspace to ensure customers receive their shopping in pristine condition.
- Load the van safely and conduct thorough checks to make sure the vehicle is roadworthy, dependable, and prepared for service delivery.
- Communicate with customers courteously about any order alterations, substitutions, or items nearing expiry, ensuring smooth and positive experiences, including issuing refunds as necessary.
- Handle all products carefully, treating every order with the utmost respect to uphold quality and customer confidence.
- Deliver orders within designated time slots, providing warm and genuine service at the customer’s doorstep, leaving them feeling appreciated and well cared for.
Candidate Requirements
- Foster strong team camaraderie with colleagues to encourage excellent service delivery and positive workplace culture.
- Exhibit warmth and friendliness towards both customers and team members.
- Adapt efficiently to changing customer requirements and embrace flexibility both during deliveries and within store operations.
- Possess a valid UK/EU/EEA driving licence (full or automatic) held for at least 12 months, with no more than 3 penalty points.
