Customer Delivery Driver

About the Role

Join our store team as a Customer Delivery Driver, contributing to a legacy of community service spanning over 150 years. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering customer orders promptly and courteously right to their doorsteps, embodying our dedication to meeting every need customers place when they shop online with us.

Key Responsibilities

• Represent the company positively with a friendly, attentive approach at every delivery address.
• Drive a 3.5-tonne refrigerated van to supply groceries in excellent condition and on schedule.
• Conduct pre-departure checks to ensure the vehicle is safe, clean, organized, and customers' items are secured.
• Navigate planned routes safely across various traffic, weather, and road environments.
• Handle physical tasks including moving containers up to 15kg and delivering across diverse property types that may involve stairs, lifts, or long distances from the vehicle.
• Communicate effectively with customers, providing updates about deliveries, delays, or order modifications.
• Assist with store duties when not actively delivering orders.

Candidate Profile

• Genuinely warm and approachable personality passionate about customer service.
• Skilled and confident in operating a larger vehicle safely across mixed locations such as city centres, residential areas, and rural lanes.
• Physically capable and energetic, comfortable with repetitive handling of goods up to 15kg.
• Problem solver who uses initiative to make safe decisions on the road.
• Able to work well independently and as part of a larger team.
• Flexible and open to taking on varied responsibilities within the store environment.
• Eager to learn, adapt, and adopt new technologies and processes to enhance delivery service.
• Comfortable using digital tools for routing and delivery management.

Eligibility and Requirements

• You must be at least 18 years old with a full UK or EU driving licence held for a minimum of 12 months and no more than 6 penalty points.
• Completion of an online driving risk assessment at the interview stage, and a driving test upon joining, is required.
• Proof of eligibility to work in the UK must be provided.
• Awareness that the company uses in-cab AI cameras to promote safe driving and compliance with road laws.
