Role Overview
We are inviting a meticulous and commercially driven Cost Accountant to join our Finance team under the supervision of the Finance Manager. This role entails managing product costing data, tracking manufacturing efficiency, assisting with inventory control, and delivering financial insights to inform strategic decisions. Collaborative interactions with manufacturing, operations, engineering, and supply chain teams will be key, along with championing continuous process improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and evaluate standard costing methodologies and systems.
- Perform detailed analyses of manufacturing costs, variances, labor productivity, and raw material consumption.
- Facilitate monthly financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning tasks.
- Assist with inventory processes including stock valuation and cycle counting.
- Identify and investigate cost variances and trends affecting operational performance.
- Work alongside operational departments to uncover opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvements.
- Generate financial reports and analyses to support business decision-making.
- Ensure adherence to corporate policies, accounting standards, and internal controls.
- Contribute to month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Engage in ongoing improvement initiatives across finance and manufacturing functions.
Candidate Profile
- Holds tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
- Possesses prior experience in cost accounting, management accounting, or comparable financial roles.
- Experience in a manufacturing setting is highly advantageous.
- Demonstrates proficient analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Strong focus on accuracy and detail orientation.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to engage stakeholders effectively.
- Capable of working autonomously while contributing collaboratively to teams.
- Exhibits a mindset focused on continuous improvement and strong commercial awareness.
- Must have valid Australian work rights or visa.
