Position Overview

We are seeking a Corporate Partner to lead the firm’s public company legal practice, complementing its existing strong private M&A and corporate advisory services. This senior role is ideal for an established Partner or a Special Counsel with relevant expertise and ambition to lead public M&A matters. The partner will manage work streams such as takeovers, schemes of arrangement, equity capital market transactions, and advisory services for listed companies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead public M&A transactions including takeovers and schemes of arrangement.
  • Manage equity capital market activities such as IPOs, placements, rights issues, and secondary fundraisings.
  • Provide advice on continuous disclosure obligations, ASX listing rules, and corporate governance for listed entities.
  • Offer corporate advisory services to family offices, founders, and mid-market businesses preparing for liquidity events or listings.
  • Engage in transactions related to energy resources and mining sectors if possessing relevant expertise.
  • Build, mentor, and lead a specialized corporate team.
  • Participate actively in partnership decision-making and contribute to strategic corporate planning.

Candidate Profile

  • Possesses 8 to 25 years’ post-admission experience with strong focus on public M&A and/or equity capital markets.
  • Technical expertise in takeovers, schemes, capital raisings, and advisory for listed companies.
  • Experience or knowledge of energy, resources, or mining sectors preferred.
  • Has a portable book of business of $1 million or more, or a clear roadmap to achieve it.
  • Established network including relationships with listed companies, boards, investment banks, corporate advisors, or private equity.
  • Proven track record in business development and ability to grow presence in the Brisbane market.
  • Background in leading top-tier or mid-tier law firms.
  • Demonstrates commercial acumen and interpersonal skills conducive to practice leadership within a collegial partnership environment.
