Role Overview
We are seeking a Corporate Credit Manager to act as the credit authority supporting Relationship Managers by providing expert credit evaluations for a portfolio of sophisticated clients. This role demands crafting tailored lending solutions based on thorough customer needs assessment and ensuring high-quality credit proposals for sanctioning decisions. You will also diligently oversee account monitoring and maintain the accuracy of credit-related financial data and reports.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze business and credit risks linked to the Bank’s lending products, crafting prompt and effective credit proposals.
- Serve as a primary credit liaison coordinating with accountants, legal professionals, and other stakeholders to facilitate credit decisions.
- Produce comprehensive credit application documentation with supporting materials for sanctioning authorities.
- Manage and update financial information submitted by customers, ensuring portfolio health by tracking sanction conditions and addressing potential risk indicators.
- Collaborate closely with Relationship Managers to ensure seamless service delivery, engaging in customer discussions to resolve credit issues.
- Support and engage in change management efforts aimed at improving processes, reducing costs, and enhancing quality within the credit function.
- Uphold all activities in strict compliance with regulatory standards, enterprise risk management frameworks, and internal policies.
Competencies and Expertise
- Proven skills in risk evaluation supported by formal credit training and strong numerical analysis capabilities.
- Familiarity with credit management programs and proficiency in relevant IT applications.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Deep understanding of corporate banking operations, including the strategic objectives and frameworks specific to Absa Bank Ghana.
- Comprehensive awareness of the wider banking sector, credit regulations, and the legal environment impacting credit decisions.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree or Advanced Diploma in Business, Commerce, or Management Studies is mandatory.
