About the Role

Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a pivotal member of the Investment Committee, guiding portfolio content under the Chief Investment Officer's direction.
- Develop and manage investment portfolios, aiming for returns that surpass established benchmarks.
- Lead asset allocation strategies based on thorough macroeconomic and sector analyses.
- Authorize trades, investment proposals, and portfolio adjustments within assigned approvals.
- Ensure investment decisions are research-driven, aligning with regulatory and internal governance frameworks, including compliance with CMA regulations and adherence to the CFA Code of Ethics.
- Maintain regular client performance reporting compliant with Global Investment Performance Standards.
- Manage and grow client relationships, assisting business development teams and leveraging group connections to expand clientele.
- Stay informed on regional and international market developments to aid in product innovation and launch strategies.
- Oversee accurate and timely reporting to stakeholders including clients, trustees, regulators, and auditors, presenting investment reviews and proposals as necessary.
- Coordinate with middle-office functions to ensure prompt collection of management fees and maintain comprehensive investment documentation.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate investment risks such as market, credit, liquidity, and concentration risks; support stress testing and scenario analyses.
- Lead, mentor, and develop junior investment personnel, fostering a research-focused and ethical culture within the team, while promoting continuous improvement and embracing change initiatives.
Qualifications and Experience
- Possess a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Commerce, Actuarial Science, or related disciplines.
- Compliance with CISI and ICIFA certification requirements is mandatory.
- Professional certifications such as CFA, CIFA, CPA, CISI, CAIA, or relevant fund management qualifications are advantageous.
- Minimum of ten years' experience in the financial services industry, with at least five years specifically within an investment environment.
Skills and Knowledge
- Comprehensive understanding of Kenyan financial services and its regulatory environment.
- Expertise in investment concepts including risk management, product knowledge, asset classes, and alternative investments.
- Proficiency with investment platforms such as Bloomberg and Refinitiv.
