About the Role
The Cook I position is based at Palm Jumeirah, Dubai, within the prestigious St. Regis Hotels & Resorts, part of the Marriott International portfolio. This role offers an opportunity to deliver exceptional culinary experiences by preparing meals and ensuring consistent quality and presentation standards.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare special meals or substitute dishes following recipes and quality guidelines.
- Manage and regulate cooking equipment temperatures such as ovens, grills, and broilers.
- Handle frozen food safely by transferring items from freezer to refrigerator for defrosting.
- Ensure proper portion sizes, presentation, and garnishing of dishes before service.
- Keep accurate food logs and monitor the quality and quantity of prepared food.
- Request assistance during busy periods and report surplus food items to the chef for daily specials.
- Inform the food and beverage service team about menu changes, specials, and items removed from the menu.
- Prepare cold foods and cook meals adhering to recipes, quality standards, and food preparation checklists.
- Support management with hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, motivating, and coaching team members while acting as a role model.
- Comply fully with safety policies and procedures; report maintenance needs, accidents, injuries, and hazardous working conditions; complete required safety training and certifications.
- Maintain a clean and professional appearance and uniform, protect confidential information, and safeguard company assets.
- Anticipate and address customer service needs, communicating clearly and politely.
- Cultivate positive professional relationships, collaborate with peers to achieve team goals, listen to and appropriately respond to employee concerns.
- Adhere to quality standards and requirements rigorously.
- Be physically prepared to work standing, sitting, and moving intermittently for extended periods, including reaching, bending, twisting, lifting up to 25 pounds (11.4 kg) without assistance.
- Perform other reasonable duties as requested by supervisors.
Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma from a technical, trade, or vocational institution preferred.
- Minimum of three years of relevant work experience in culinary roles.
- No prior supervisory experience required.
- No specific certification or license mandated.
