Job Overview
This full-time role involves performing fundamental food preparation tasks along with service fulfillment, sanitation, and disinfection activities in patient-facing or support areas. The cook provides service and support aligned with their knowledge and regulatory standards, demonstrating ethical, respectful, and compassionate engagement with patients, families, and guests to exceed expectations.
Key Duties
- Prepare food by following standardized recipes and HACCP standards to ensure safety and quality.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of food prep areas using appropriate chemicals and procedures.
- Coordinate with supervisors and team members to organize workload, review menus and special orders, and help schedule production and food quantity requirements.
- Manage efficient food production via techniques such as batch cooking, large quantity cooking, and short-order cooking.
- Document leftover food properly with labeling, dating, and temperature logging; keep accurate production records of quantities prepared and leftover.
- Stock department supplies to maintain inventory levels.
- Operate cash register systems for transactions, issue receipts, refunds, credits, or change accurately, and identify prices of goods.
Qualifications
- Minimum of High School Diploma.
- Must have Serve Safe certification or obtain it within six months of hire.
- Food handler’s certification mandatory to be acquired within six months of employment.
- One year of experience in restaurant or institutional cooking, or alternatively one year of cashier experience in retail.
Preferred Experience
- Background in large volume cooking and line cooking is advantageous.
