Job Overview
Join Compass Group Canada as a Cook based in Burnaby, British Columbia. This role involves preparing food following company standards and regulatory guidelines, ensuring consistent quality food service.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, pre-cook, and cook food items as instructed.
- Organize and set up mise en place, including foods, garnishes, sauces, dishes, and cutlery to support high-volume meal production.
- Maintain cleanliness by thoroughly cleaning kitchen equipment after use in compliance with health and safety protocols.
- Properly label, date, store, and rotate food and beverage inventory in designated storage areas.
- Communicate efficiently with relevant operational teams to support kitchen activities.
- Immediately report maintenance issues, equipment faults, or accidents to a supervisor.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
- Demonstrated cooking experience, including roles as a restaurant or prep cook.
- Required Food Safety Certification.
- Completion of a culinary course from a recognized cooking school.
- Strong knowledge of diverse cooking techniques, ingredients, kitchen equipment, and procedures.
- Ability to perform assigned tasks accurately and promptly.
- Awareness of and adherence to industry best practices.
- Capable of working independently and collaboratively within a team setting.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Physically capable of fulfilling the job requirements.
- Effective time management skills.
- Competency in preparing food from scratch and managing large quantities.
- Customer service oriented with creativity in meal preparation.
- Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment and prepare a variety of cuisines.
