Contracts Specialist

Overview

The Contracts Specialist role focuses on managing the full lifecycle of retail and hospitality contracts for Qatar Airways. This includes drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and administering agreements aligned with company policies and legal standards to support operational and commercial goals.

Key Duties

• Oversee and manage contract administration from inception to final execution, ensuring compliance with approved templates, regulatory standards, company policies, and commercial aims.
• Assist in drafting, evaluating, and negotiating terms with suppliers and partner organizations.
• Coordinate with Qatar Airways Legal to maintain adherence to applicable laws and enterprise requirements.
• Recommend and implement process improvements for contractual workflows and governance frameworks within Retail and Hospitality.
• Collaborate across departments including purchasing, finance, insurance, data protection, and legal to address concerns related to contracts.
• Detect legal or contractual breaches or deficiencies and take responsive action.
• Manage internal approvals and documentation to guarantee contracts are executed appropriately and on schedule.
• Enhance contract quality by refining contractual terms to safeguard company interests thoroughly.
• Support commercial teams in renegotiation activities to ensure productive, cost-effective supplier relationships.
• Handle contract approvals and renewals according to company delegation frameworks and approval hierarchies.
• Conduct research on relevant legislations and regulations to ensure contracts remain compliant and current, including corporate structure setup like joint ventures and mergers.
• Protect the company's interests throughout contract drafting and negotiation, highlighting potential risks for management decisions.
• Maintain professionalism, integrity, and transparent communication while advising stakeholders.
• Develop and maintain robust relationships with global suppliers ensuring fulfillment of contractual obligations and performance metrics.
• Perform additional related duties as assigned by the department head.

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, preferably in Law (LLB) or related fields such as procurement.
• At least 4 years of relevant experience in contract management, legal roles, supply chain, procurement, or retail and hospitality sectors.
• Experience handling contracts and supplier management with operational or commercial exposure to retail and hospitality industries.
• Strong command of the English language with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Analytical thinking, advanced decision-making ability, problem-solving aptitude, and close attention to detail.
• Thorough understanding of contract documents and procedures.
• Proven negotiation skills with the capacity to manage complex contractual discussions.
