Construction Studies Lecturer

Position Overview

The Academic Department, in partnership with Bath Spa University (BSU), is seeking a permanent full-time Construction Management Lecturer to join the team at the Leeds site. This role offers an annual salary of 351000 and entails a 40-hour workweek. The focus is on transforming lives through education by nurturing specialist understanding and skills in construction management for student success.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver teaching sessions and digital content tailored for todays construction industry, encompassing legal, environmental, and technological contexts.
• Instruct students on foundational theories, concepts, and evidence-based methodologies across various construction management areas such as measurement, building appraisal, project management, and performance.
• Monitor and provide detailed feedback on student progress individually and collectively, identifying where criteria are not met and recommending improvements.
• Enhance teaching quality and student experience by thoroughly documenting and evaluating instructional methods for continuous improvement.
• Adapt to a flexible teaching schedule including weekdays, evenings, and weekends as required by the delivery model.

Candidate Profile

• Possesses a Masters degree in a relevant construction-related subject; a PhD is advantageous.
• Previous lecturing experience within UK higher education, with extensive breadth of subject matter expertise.
• Proven experience supervising students work and providing constructive feedback and academic support.
• History of teaching adults from diverse cultural and academic backgrounds in similar higher education programs.
• Strong reporting capabilities and meticulous record keeping of student progress.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Preferred: Possession of a Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice or equivalent teaching qualification, or fellowship with the Higher Education Academy (HEA) or its international counterpart. Commitment to obtain these credentials within three years is acceptable.
