About the Role
A nationally recognized construction company is looking for a skilled Construction Estimator to join their expanding team. This permanent position requires expertise in cost estimating across multiple sectors such as healthcare, higher education, schools, commercial, government, and disaster-related construction projects. The estimator will be accountable for preparing precise cost forecasts to ensure projects are completed successfully within budget and on schedule.
Responsibilities
- Develop thorough cost estimates covering materials, labor, equipment, and project timelines for various construction assignments.
- Critically assess and verify the accuracy and completeness of cost estimates.
- Employ advanced estimation software like OST to aid in calculations.
- Prepare and submit competitive bids for upcoming projects.
- Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and other relevant project documentation.
- Collaborate closely with architects, engineers, clients, contractors, and subcontractors to refine project cost evaluations.
- Conduct risk assessments to pinpoint potential challenges and devise economical solutions.
- Stay updated on construction industry trends and innovative estimating methodologies.
- Advise on project planning, scheduling, and cost control tactics.
- Provide regular updates to management on project progress, financial risks, and deviations from the budget.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of five years’ experience in construction estimating, particularly with healthcare, education, commercial, government, and disaster construction sectors.
- Strong command of estimating software, especially OST.
- In-depth knowledge of construction materials, methods, and equipment.
- Exceptional numerical aptitude with a track record of producing precise, detailed estimates.
- Effective communication and negotiation skills to clearly present estimates to clients and stakeholders.
- Good analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify and address potential cost overruns.
- Ability to perform under pressure and meet stringent deadlines.
- Professional demeanor upholding company values and ethics.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to job sites as necessary.
