About the Role
Crowne Plaza Auckland, a premier hotel located in the city center and part of the IHG Hotels & Resorts family, is dedicated to providing guests with a luxurious experience and outstanding service. We are looking to hire a Conferences & Events Coordinator who will manage the pre-event stages of the Meetings Cycle, focusing on converting organic MICE and ad-hoc group inquiries. The role requires monitoring market trends through client feedback and staying informed about industry changes.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a personal growth plan aligned with performance targets
- Communicate client expectations to relevant hotel teams to ensure flawless event execution
- Handle all meeting inquiries following established meeting success protocols
- Collaborate with the Crowne Meetings team to organize space allocation for conferences and related events
- Coordinate with Reservations to confirm room availability and preferences
- Conduct site inspections and room familiarization visits
- Track competitor activities in the market
- Follow up on sales leads, negotiate quotes, and secure business opportunities
- Log all sales actions in the Delphi MPE system
- Work alongside Food & Beverage Management and the Executive Chef to set pricing and prepare banquet menus, beverages, and wine lists
Candidate Profile
- Qualification in Hospitality, Hotel Management, Sales and Events or a related discipline (Diploma or Bachelor's degree preferred)
- Minimum two years of experience in a hotel-related role
- Proven ability in sales conversion with a strong grasp of sales principles and techniques
- Innovative, creative thinker with awareness of emerging technology trends in the travel sector
- Excellent client management, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
- Strong communication and negotiation capabilities
- Good understanding of IHG's products, pricing, and marketing initiatives
- Familiarity with hotel management systems like Opera, Delphi, or equivalents is advantageous
- Highly organized, attentive to detail, and capable of meeting deadlines
- Adaptable and flexible in response to a dynamic work environment
