Job description
Position Overview
We develop thoughtful technical solutions and customized system concepts based on unique customer requirements. We are seeking a Concept Engineer (m/w/d) responsible for establishing the technical foundation for complex projects in special machinery and plant construction during the offer phase.
Key Duties
- Gather, analyze, and prepare customer requirements and environmental conditions (infrastructure, workflows, regulations) in the offer phase.
- Review customer specifications for technical feasibility and develop technical responses along with company standards.
- Develop customer- and application-oriented system concepts using SolidWorks by assembling modules and components without detailed design.
- Produce all technical documentation for proposals including overall concepts, conditions, and concept documentation for internal and external use.
- Participate in concept meetings with the development team and contribute to preliminary costing and risk assessment.
- Coordinate technically with customers mainly remotely, with responsibility to present concepts independently on-site in the medium term.
- Collaborate closely with sales, project management, and departments including mechanics, electrical engineering, automation, and software development.
- Transfer concepts to product development upon order placement and provide support during the implementation phase.
Candidate Profile
- Completed degree in mechanical engineering, mechatronics or equivalent, or technical training with additional qualification as technician/master.
- Professional experience in special machinery or plant construction is preferred; entry-level candidates with relevant focus in academic projects are also welcome.
- Solid experience with CAD software, preferably SolidWorks (alternatives: Inventor, Creo, etc.).
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems and ability to derive viable overall concepts from functional requirements.
- Willingness to work with incomplete information during the offer phase and arrive at reliable technical conclusions.
- Experience in industrial computed tomography, X-ray technology or nondestructive testing is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Self-motivated, independent, and solution-focused work style.
- Team player with strong communication skills and confident customer interaction.
- Good command of German and English, both spoken and written.
