Role Overview
As the Community Builder & PR Manager, you will be the driving force behind HerGrowth's voice and expansion. Your role involves forging relationships, enhancing member engagement, scaling community programs globally, and managing public relations efforts including media outreach, storytelling, and strategic collaborations. This position suits someone adept at connecting people, narrating compelling stories, and amplifying brand presence.
Key Responsibilities
- Steer daily and weekly interactions across multiple community platforms such as WhatsApp, LinkedIn, Circle, and Slack.
- Create a welcoming onboarding experience and activate member participation effectively.
- Initiate engagement activities like weekly themed discussions, challenges, spotlights, and peer group sessions.
- Transform passive community members into enthusiastic contributors and advocates.
- Organize and facilitate virtual workshops and local gatherings in key regions including UAE, GCC, India, Africa, and other global hubs.
- Develop structured programs like mentorship groups, career clinics, leadership forums, and networking pods.
- Manage event logistics involving speakers, moderators, scheduling, and follow-up communications.
- Establish partnerships with women-focused networks, academic institutions, accelerators, corporations, and DEI leaders to create impactful community initiatives.
- Support collaboration with corporate partners through community-driven engagements, ensuring authenticity.
- Lead PR efforts by identifying suitable media outlets, podcasts, newsletters, and platforms for outreach.
- Compose and pitch press releases, story ideas, founder profiles, and community success narratives.
- Maintain a comprehensive media list including journalists, editors, podcast hosts, and event coordinators.
- Secure media exposure through speaking engagements, podcast appearances, and panel participation for founders and community influencers.
- Coordinate PR activities tied to major campaigns and milestones such as Women's Day and awards.
- Ensure consistent brand messaging and voice across all external communications.
- Create and curate content spotlighting member achievements, hiring outcomes, partnership stories, and event summaries.
- Encourage user-generated content and testimonials that build trust and drive organic growth.
- Collaborate on thought-leadership content for LinkedIn and community channels.
- Monitor, analyze, and report community and PR metrics weekly, including membership growth, activation, engagement, retention, referrals, media mentions, partnership leads, and event participation.
- Oversee community governance by managing moderation, guidelines, safety, and member segmentation.
Success Metrics
- Monthly new member growth by region.
- Activation rate within seven days of joining.
- Weekly active user numbers and engagement rates.
- Retention rates at 30, 60, and 90 days intervals.
- Frequency, attendance, and satisfaction of events.
- Growth in ambassadors and referral participation.
- Monthly media mentions and features.
- Number of secured podcast and event speaking engagements.
- Ratio of press releases or story pitches sent to those accepted.
- Inbound partnership leads generated from PR exposure.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Between 3 and 7 years of experience in community building, public relations, communication, partnerships, customer success, or brand development, preferably within startup environments.
- Excellent written communication skills with the ability to craft press releases, media pitches, event proposals, and biographies.
- Confident in oral communication, capable of hosting and moderating sessions, and nurturing relationships effectively.
- Skilled in networking, able to initiate warm and credible connections.
- Proficient with various tools such as Notion, Google Sheets, Zoom, Calendly, Canva, PR databases (optional), and CRM or community platforms.
- Passionately committed to advancing women’s careers, leadership, entrepreneurship, and social impact.
Additional Desired Skills
- Experience engaging with media in GCC, India, or global markets.
- Existing professional relationships with journalists, podcasters, and event coordinators.
- Familiarity with employer branding and DEI communications.
