Role Overview

This 12-month fixed-term contract involves a global position reporting to the Global Communications Manager. The Communications Lead - Industry is crucial in designing and implementing Zespri's communication strategies targeting growers and industry stakeholders. The role ensures communications are clear, timely, and engaging to foster trust and alignment with Zespri’s objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct the planning and execution of Zespri’s industry communication strategies and yearly communication programmes.
• Create compelling content tailored for diverse channels including publications, presentations, grower updates, and digital platforms.
• Offer strategic communication guidance for projects and initiatives impacting growers and stakeholders.
• Establish and maintain strong partnerships internally and within the industry to deliver audience-centric communications.
• Oversee and enhance major industry communication channels and platforms continuously.
• Lead and mentor the Industry Communications team to achieve superior communication results.
• Leverage insights, analytics, and innovative technologies such as AI tools to boost communication effectiveness and stakeholder engagement.

Candidate Profile

• Possess a relevant tertiary qualification coupled with extensive experience in communications, stakeholder engagement, or corporate affairs.
• Demonstrated success in developing and executing strategic communication plans and initiatives.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills capable of simplifying complex information into accessible, engaging content.
• Experience collaborating with senior leadership and stakeholders providing trusted communication advice.
• Aptitude for building meaningful relationships and influencing diverse groups of stakeholders.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects in a high-paced work setting.
• A collaborative approach to leadership with experience in coaching, mentoring, or supervising team members.
• Strong digital communication proficiency, including familiarity with contemporary communication platforms and technology.
• Proactive mindset with confidence in using emerging technologies, including AI-based tools like Microsoft Copilot, to advance communication outcomes.
• Experience within New Zealand’s primary sectors such as horticulture or agriculture is advantageous.
