Job Overview
The Commissioning Engineer applies theoretical and practical commissioning engineering knowledge with moderate guidance, addressing a range of straightforward issues. They analyze solutions by leveraging company standards, processes, and client understanding, applying technical judgment in line with critical business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Principal Commissioning Engineer and report to the Commissioning Manager for preparing home office deliverables.
- Conduct site activities including walk-down inspections, punch listing, testing, and troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation components.
- Collaborate effectively with project teams and clients to maintain positive relationships.
- Assist commissioning teams in manual preparations, spare parts development, first fills and consumables, as well as procedure development related to commissioning and start-up.
- Perform discipline-specific system checks, functional testing, start-up, commissioning, and performance testing.
- Identify and resolve operational and maintenance challenges during commissioning phases.
- Oversee craft personnel conducting site pre-commissioning and commissioning tasks.
- Coordinate commissioning activities with other engineers and support personnel.
Reporting and Liaison
- Report to Project Commissioning Manager and Functional Commissioning Manager.
- Work closely with Commissioning Manager, Discipline Lead Engineers, Project Engineers, and Construction/Fabrication teams.
- Supervise support personnel within the function group.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Engineering.
- 3 to 8 years of experience in oil & gas industry with major contractors or consultants.
- Proficient understanding of commissioning, completions, and training concepts and practices, along with foundational knowledge of construction, operations, and maintenance.
- Industry knowledge to enhance operational effectiveness.
- Preferred degree or diploma in engineering.
- Minimum 3 years in chemical, refinery, or oil & gas process facilities.
- At least 2 years commissioning and start-up experience in relevant industries preferred.
- Ability to communicate technical solutions clearly to engineers and non-engineers.
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
- Strong organizational capabilities and adaptability to diverse discipline needs.
- Effective in defining, communicating project requirements and expectations positively and productively.
- Willingness and ability to travel internationally to construction sites.
