Commis II - Pastry Kitchen

Job Overview

This role entails preparing culinary ingredients including portioning, chopping, and proper storage. It involves washing and peeling fresh produce and accurately measuring and mixing components. The candidate will prepare and cook food items following established recipes, quality benchmarks, and presentation guidelines, including cold food preparation.

Equipment operation includes ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers. Food preparation quality will be monitored, including sufficient cooking testing. Responsibilities also include setting up and dismantling the workstation and serving foods in correct portions using appropriate serving equipment.

Maintaining cleanliness and sanitation within the kitchen area is essential—cleaning and disinfecting tables, tools, cutlery, and equipment. Monitoring temperatures of food and appliances to ensure safety standards is also required.

Safety and Conduct

The associate must follow all company safety and security protocols, report any accidents or unsafe conditions, and complete necessary safety training and certification. The position requires a professional appearance, confidentiality in handling proprietary information, and protection of company assets. Effective communication and team collaboration toward shared objectives are vital.

Physical Demands

The role demands standing, sitting, or walking extensively during shifts and frequent movements requiring bending, twisting, pulling, or stooping. The candidate must be capable of moving or handling items weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance.

Qualifications

The ideal applicant should possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent with a minimum of one year of relevant experience. No supervisory experience or specific certifications are required.
