Role Overview and Responsibilities

The Commis I - Pastry plays a vital role in ensuring guest satisfaction and smooth kitchen operations. The role entails delivering courteous, professional service to guests and colleagues, promptly addressing inquiries and resolving any concerns professionally, and maintaining positive working relationships.

Operational duties include adhering to the hotel’s brand standards, collaborating flexibly with peers to enhance guest experience, and performing essential kitchen preparation tasks such as washing, peeling, cutting, and seeding fruits and vegetables, preparing meats, poultry, and seafood, and breading food items.

The commis assists with quality control, measuring and weighing ingredients, arranging buffet and food presentations, transporting food items between workstations and storage areas, supporting other chefs as needed, and rotating through various kitchen sections including the associate kitchen under direction.

Maintaining sanitation standards is a critical responsibility, alongside proper food storage, stock rotation, labelling, and reporting any food wastage or spoilage. The commis also cleans work areas, utensils, and equipment, manages waste disposal, and ensures kitchen equipment upkeep to minimize breakage.
