Commis Chef

Position Overview

The Commis Chef is responsible for preparing ingredients by portioning, chopping, washing, and peeling fresh produce. This role involves measuring and mixing ingredients, cooking according to recipes and quality standards, and ensuring proper food presentation. The Commis Chef operates kitchen appliances such as ovens, grills, microwaves, and fryers and tests food for adequate cooking. Maintaining a clean and organized workstation, including washing and sanitizing kitchen tools and equipment, is essential. Monitoring appliance and food temperatures to guarantee food safety is also required.

Additional Responsibilities

• Follow company policies on safety and security, report hazards or incidents promptly.
• Complete all required safety training and certifications.
• Maintain a professional appearance and uphold confidentiality of company information.
• Communicate clearly and professionally with colleagues and support teamwork to achieve common goals.
• Ensure adherence to established quality standards throughout food preparation.
• Perform physical tasks including extended periods of standing, bending, lifting up to 25 pounds, and other movements necessary for the role.
• Carry out any other reasonable duties as assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent education certification.
• Minimum of one year of relevant work experience in food preparation or culinary roles.
• No supervisory experience required.
• No specific licenses or certifications mandated.
