Job description
Role Overview
The Commercial Division Manager is responsible for steering the division's strategic direction and operational execution to align with corporate goals and evolving market conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead development and implementation of division-wide strategies based on company objectives and market insights.
- Translate strategic goals into actionable plans across various categories and departments.
- Conduct quarterly planning sessions, performance evaluations, and strategy adjustments as needed.
- Manage product assortment strategy, informed by customer behavior, market trends, and performance metrics.
- Oversee category structure management, periodic rationalization, and lifecycle oversight.
- Ensure effective product availability matching demand through optimized assortment depth.
- Establish and maintain strategic supplier relationships to foster value creation, growth, and differentiation.
- Lead commercial negotiations including pricing, terms, promotional activities, joint business plans, and commercial investments.
- Design long-term partnership agreements to facilitate scalable expansion.
- Supervise supply chain collaboration for optimal product availability and minimal stockouts.
- Guide inventory management balancing days of coverage, turnover rates, and service level targets.
- Leverage forecasting and demand planning data to enhance inventory efficiency.
- Develop pricing and promotional strategies at the divisional level to maximize revenue and margins.
- Monitor competitor pricing and market responsiveness to price changes.
- Analyze promotional campaigns for effectiveness and lessons learned.
- Coordinate with Media Buying and Partnerships teams to secure supplier-driven media investments that translate to sales growth.
- Incorporate media strategies into comprehensive category growth initiatives.
- Take full accountability for division performance, including market research, competitive benchmarking, P&L management, and performance metrics such as sales, availability, margin, days on channel, business sales volume, market share, and other income streams.
- Implement data-driven performance reviews and financial optimizations to identify and bridge gaps, fostering growth opportunities.
Qualifications
- 6 to 8 years of professional experience in category management, commercial strategy, retail, or e-commerce environments.
- Demonstrated expertise in managing extensive assortments, multi-category divisions, and overseeing comprehensive profit and loss accountability.
- Proven skills in supplier negotiation, pricing frameworks, and managing commercial performance.
- Strong analytical capabilities to convert complex data into strategic initiatives.
- Experience coordinating across departments in dynamic, high-growth settings.
- Leadership experience with senior category management teams, including personnel development.
- A Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Finance, or a related discipline; an MBA is highly advantageous.
