Collections Officer (Remote - Canada)

About the Role

We seek a seasoned Collections Officer with multiple years of direct, practical experience in managing collection activities. The ideal candidate will have a focused background in handling overdue accounts, conducting collection calls, negotiating payments, and overseeing accounts until resolution. Candidates must demonstrate persistence and firmness in communications, balancing assertiveness without aggressiveness, and possess strong proficiency in English.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee a portfolio of delinquent or overdue accounts.
• Initiate outbound calls and send emails to follow up on unpaid balances.
• Address and resolve customer objections and payment delays professionally.
• Negotiate payment plans and ensure prompt follow-up on payment agreements.
• Maintain precise records of account statuses and subsequent actions.
• Strive to meet daily and weekly collection goals and key performance indicators.

Requirements

• Extensive experience focusing mainly on collections, including managing overdue accounts and negotiating payment arrangements.
• Preferred experience working with U.S. customer accounts.
• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
• Capable of handling a high volume of outbound calls.
• Clear, direct, and concise communication style.
• Demonstrated firmness, persistence, and professionalism in collections activities.
• Strong follow-through capabilities and a high sense of responsibility.
• Comfortable working with performance targets and metrics.

Unsuitable Backgrounds

• Candidates whose collections experience is secondary to roles like Accounts Receivable, Billing, Credit Analysis, Credit Control, or general Accounting.
• Candidates focused mainly on clerical, reconciliation, or data entry tasks rather than direct collection management and negotiations.

Benefits

• Monthly gross salary of approximately CAD 4,000, dependent on relevant experience and proven collections proficiency.
