Coating Utility Operator (Sandblaster)

Job Overview

Join Coherent Corp., a global leader in lasers and engineered materials, as a Coating Utility Operator specializing in sandblasting. This full-time, onsite position involves preparing and operating sandblasting equipment to clean coating tools and materials in a manufacturing setting.

Main Responsibilities

• Operate sandblasting equipment to clean and prepare coating surfaces and tooling.
• Remove contaminants such as dirt, paint, and grease from surfaces.
• Set up and manage blast booths or equivalent equipment.
• Prepare evaporative materials and maintain cleanliness of the sandblasting area.
• Strictly follow work instructions, procedures, and maintain high standards of cleanliness and safety.

Qualifications and Experience

• Completed secondary education or possess at least one year of manufacturing experience.
• Candidates holding an NITEC certificate without prior work experience are encouraged to apply.

Skills and Attributes

• Strong attention to detail with a methodical work approach.
• Capability to perform machine setup and basic troubleshooting tasks.
• Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.

Working Conditions

• This role requires 100% onsite presence within a clean room setting.
• Work involves exposure to high noise levels, continuous standing, bending, and occasional chemical exposure.
• Willingness to work 12-hour rotating shifts including weekends and public holidays.
• Use of personal protective equipment such as tight-fitting respirators as required for safety standards.
• Handling of radioactive materials (ThF₄) necessitates holding an NEA R1 license.
