CNC Operator

Overview

We are seeking an experienced CNC Operator to manage and run advanced DMG MORI CNC milling and turning machines. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in machine setup, programming, quality control, and maintenance to ensure precise manufacturing outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up, adjust, and operate 3-axis to 5-axis DMG MORI CNC machines including milling and turning centers.
• Handle raw materials loading, fixture installation, tool setup involving end mills, drills, taps, and inserts.
• Perform trial runs such as dry runs and single-block executions along with first-piece inspections to validate setups before full production.
• Program and modify Siemens Sinumerik controls using G-code/M-code or conversational programming interfaces like ShopMill and ShopTurn.
• Adjust parameters, tool length offsets, cutter compensation, and optimize feed/speed settings during operations.
• Interpret detailed engineering blueprints and GD&T callouts accurately for production guidance.
• Conduct detailed inspections using micrometers, calipers, height and bore gauges, as well as CMM results to maintain tolerances as tight as ±0.0005 inches (±0.01 mm).
• Carry out routine preventive maintenance on machines including coolant levels, lubrication, chip removal, and spindle condition checks.
• Troubleshoot machine issues such as tool wear and vibration, making immediate corrections to maintain quality and efficiency.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 3 to 5 years hands-on CNC machine operation experience in a precision manufacturing setting.
• Proven expertise with DMG MORI CNC models like DMU, CMX, NLX, or NTX.
• Advanced proficiency with Siemens Sinumerik controllers (840D / ONE / ShopMill / ShopTurn / Operate).
• Educational background including High School diploma, GED, or relevant vocational training in Machine Tool Technology or Precision Machining.
• Strong ability to read and interpret technical blueprints, CAD drawings, and GD&T notations.
• Skilled in using precision hand measurement tools such as micrometers, gauge blocks, and dial indicators.

Desirable Skills

• Experience working with the CELOS interface on DMG MORI machinery.
• Familiarity with Fanuc or Heidenhain CNC controls.
• Basic understanding of CAM software including Mastercam, NX, or Esprit.
• Experience machining difficult materials like Inconel, Titanium, Stainless Steel, and Tool Steels.
