CNC Machinist (DMG, Mazak, Integrex)

Job Overview

The CNC Machinist is responsible for fabricating machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating computer numerical control (CNC) machines. This role ensures the production of high-quality components while adhering to safety regulations and equipment maintenance standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Adhere to all safety policies and procedures as outlined by NOV.
• Machine threaded connectors and components according to technical drawings and CNC programs.
• Inspect and confirm that each thread and part meets the required specifications.
• Follow directives and guidelines provided by the Superintendent.
• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in the workplace.
• Care for and responsibly operate company machinery and facilities, understanding and complying with all safety rules at departmental and organizational levels.
• Accurately execute assigned tasks, verifying parts and work orders as required.

• Monitor machine operations through auditory and visual cues to detect malfunctions and make necessary adjustments.
• Review initial parts, engineering drawings, and related documentation to plan machining sequences and verify dimensional and tolerance requirements.
• Apply strong mathematical skills to interpret complex instructions and schematics, ensuring precision in manufacturing.
• Demonstrate problem-solving abilities to diagnose performance issues, improve efficiency, and rectify errors.
• Exhibit meticulous attention to detail, recognizing that minor deviations (thousandths of an inch) can critically affect product quality.
• Possess mechanical aptitude and familiarity with CAD/CAM technologies relevant to CNC operations.
• Maintain stamina to perform repetitive tasks over extended periods.
• Utilize conceptual skills encompassing process enhancement, effective communication, tooling knowledge, coordination, and sound judgment.

Qualifications and Experience

• Diploma in Industrial or Manufacturing disciplines, or completion of vocational training in mechanical engineering after high school.
• Minimum of two years working experience in roles such as Turner, Machinist, or Fitter.
• Proven experience operating various machines including DMG Beta and Gamma models, Mazak (ST450, STN500/550M), ROMI (M33, M43), and Doosan (Puma700LM, DBC130L).
• Background in manufacturing within the Oil & Gas sector.

Specialized Skills and Knowledge

• Proficiency in operating CNC machines related to Rotary Shoulder Connections including API, Grant Prideco, Tenaris, Vam, etc.
• Experience handling Heavy Weight Drill Pipe (HWDP) components such as drill pipes, drill collars, and drill stems.
