SpaceX is driven by the vision of humanity exploring the stars, aiming to develop technologies that enable life on Mars. The CMM Programmer for Starlink works closely with machinists, engineering, and operations teams to ensure high precision and quality in manufactured parts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct precise inspections using CMM devices or surface plates on parts, assemblies, and materials, including first articles and in-process inspections.
  • Interpret and apply GD&T standards per engineering drawings and notes.
  • Identify discrepancies or ambiguities in dimensioning or tolerance specifications.
  • Choose and use appropriate gauges to verify feature tolerances and ensure product quality.
  • Develop and maintain CMM programs, particularly for bridge-style machines possibly with 5-axis heads, ensuring proper version control.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to enhance inspection processes and standards within the work center and organization-wide.
  • Support engineering in creating inspection plans for parts.
  • Detect design or GD&T issues causing confusion in manufacturing or inspection workflows.
  • Propose drawing modifications to improve manufacturability.
  • Assist in the acquisition of inspection tools, from gauges to CMM equipment.
  • Deliver and manage training to help team members exceed job expectations.

Candidate Qualifications

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 3 years experience programming CMM machines.

Preferred Experience and Skills

  • Five or more years of experience with CMMs, including programming multi-sensing machines (vision, laser, touch probe).
  • Strong understanding of GD&T and engineering drawing tolerances and notes.
  • Capability to design and develop gauging methods to increase efficiency.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 quality standards.
  • Hands-on experience setting up CMM and portable measuring arms like Romer Arm.
  • Good judgment in selecting the correct tools for inspection jobs.

Additional Requirements

  • Willingness to work the 2nd shift schedule: Sunday to Thursday, 3:00 PM to 1:30 AM PT.
  • Physically able to lift up to 25 pounds without assistance.
  • Capability to perform various physical activities including standing, climbing, bending, and pulling as needed for the role.
  • Comfortable working in a cleanroom environment with required PPE such as bunny suits and hairnets.

Compensation and Benefits

Hourly pay ranges by level:

  • Level 1: $34 to $40 per hour
  • Level 2: $38 to $45 per hour
  • Level 3: $42 to $51 per hour

Actual salary will be based on individual qualifications including skills and experience.

Benefits package includes medical, vision, dental, 401(k), disability and life insurance, paid parental leave, stock purchase options, bonuses, paid vacation, paid holidays, and sick leave per Washington State law. Shuttle service from select Seattle locations to the Redmond office is provided Monday through Friday.
