Job description
Overview
We are looking for a proficient Cloudera Administrator with extensive hands-on experience managing and optimizing Cloudera big data platforms. The candidate will oversee installation, configuration, monitoring, and maintenance of Cloudera environments to ensure reliability, scalability, and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and manage Cloudera CDP clusters both on-premises and cloud-based.
- Conduct routine maintenance including upgrades, patching, and deployment of hotfixes.
- Monitor system health, cluster performance, resource utilization, and maintain high availability.
- Oversee essential Hadoop ecosystem components such as HDFS, YARN, Hive, Spark, ZooKeeper, and Impala, optimizing their performance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to node failures, downtimes, performance slowdowns, and misconfigurations.
- Implement cluster security measures including Kerberos authentication, Ranger/Sentry policies, SSL encryption, and role-based access control.
- Establish and manage backup, recovery strategies, and disaster recovery protocols.
- Collaborate with development teams to support and maintain data pipelines and workload execution on the cluster.
- Ensure compliance with governance, security standards, and data policies.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation covering cluster architecture, topology, and configuration changes.
- Drive automation initiatives using scripting languages and tools like Bash, Python, and Ansible to improve operational efficiency.
- Participate in on-call rotations for production support and timely incident response.
- Document both low-level and high-level design aspects of the platform and its operational procedures.
Candidate Requirements
- Proven experience as a Cloudera Administrator managing CDH/CDP environments.
- In-depth knowledge of Hadoop components including HDFS, YARN, Hive, Spark, HBase, ZooKeeper, Oozie, and Impala.
- Experience with large-scale distributed data system management.
- Expertise in Linux system administration (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu).
- Strong capability in diagnosing cluster issues and tuning performance.
- Hands-on experience with cluster security technologies such as Kerberos, Ranger, Sentry, LDAP, and Active Directory integrations.
- Proficiency with scripting in Bash, Python, or equivalent languages.
- Understanding of networking fundamentals, load balancing concepts, and security best practices.
- Familiarity with cloud service providers like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform is advantageous.
- Certifications like CCAH, CCA Administrator, or CDP Administrator highly valued.
- Experience using automation tools such as Ansible or Terraform.
- Knowledge of monitoring platforms like Grafana, Prometheus, Nagios, and Cloudera Manager.
- Exposure to Kafka, NiFi, or other data ingestion tools preferred.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline is required.
