Job description
Role Overview
The Cloud Engineer will design, implement, and maintain cloud infrastructure, ensuring robust performance, security, and compliance. Key responsibilities include managing cloud resources, optimizing performance, troubleshooting cloud issues, and collaborating with software teams to integrate cloud solutions effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect and develop cloud infrastructure tailored to business needs.
- Create and sustain consistent cloud configurations across multiple environments.
- Manage installation, configuration, and upgrade of cloud platforms and related software.
- Perform routine maintenance such as backups, patching, and system updates.
- Monitor cloud performance metrics and implement tuning strategies to enhance efficiency.
- Plan and execute capacity expansions and scalability solutions.
- Implement and oversee cloud security protocols including access control, encryption, and vulnerability assessments.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate closely with developers and project teams to integrate cloud services seamlessly and support project execution.
- Diagnose and resolve issues affecting cloud system stability and connectivity.
- Provide critical on-call support for cloud services as necessary.
- Maintain detailed documentation of cloud systems, procedures, and troubleshooting guidelines.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 2 to 3 years managing cloud operations and deploying cloud-based infrastructure.
- Proficiency with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and/or Microsoft Azure platforms.
- Strong understanding of infrastructure-as-code and related toolsets.
- Experience with scripting and automation using Python, PowerShell, Bash, and similar languages.
- Familiarity with monitoring and log management tools to anticipate and resolve issues proactively.
- Knowledge of cloud security best practices and hands-on experience implementing controls.
- Effective problem-solving and advanced troubleshooting capabilities.
- Excellent communication skills for interaction with both technical teams and non-technical stakeholders.
- Certifications such as AWS Cloud Practitioner or Azure Fundamentals are advantageous.
Additional Technical Preferences
- Experience with Python libraries such as pandas and pyspark.
- Exposure to R programming language.
- Familiarity with development frameworks like React and FLASK.
