Cloud Administrator

Role Overview

We are hiring a Cloud Administrator with expertise in Red Hat OpenShift Service on AWS (ROSA) to oversee the administration and maintenance of OpenShift cluster environments running on AWS cloud infrastructure. This position involves configuration, monitoring, security enforcement, and troubleshooting to ensure smooth operational performance. The role is based in Dublin, Ireland, and offers a hybrid working model with two days per week onsite.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer ROSA/OpenShift clusters across development, testing, and production environments including project setup, namespaces, nodes, machine pools, and workload management such as Operators, Routes, Services, Deployments, ConfigMaps, and Secrets.
• Execute regular health assessments, troubleshooting, performance tuning, patching, and capacity management of clusters.
• Manage AWS infrastructure elements including VPCs, subnets, route tables, security groups, IAM roles and policies, EC2 instances, EBS storage, Load Balancers, Route 53, and CloudWatch for monitoring and alerts.
• Implement OpenShift RBAC policies, user and group management, service account administration, secrets and certificate handling, and ensure compliance with security protocols.
• Monitor cluster and application health metrics, diagnose issues spanning networking, storage, CPU, memory, and application layers, and collaborate with development, infrastructure, and security teams.
• Automate administrative workflows through scripting and infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and Bash; support continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) pipelines; promote GitOps practices and contribute to platform reliability improvements.

Qualification and Experience

• Minimum five years of experience in Linux and cloud infrastructure administration.
• At least three years of hands-on experience managing Kubernetes and OpenShift platforms.
• Two or more years of working experience with AWS cloud services, focusing on networking and identity and access management (IAM).
• Prior exposure to enterprise-level production environments and ITIL-based incident, problem, and change management is advantageous.

Technical Skills

• Proficiency with Red Hat OpenShift and Kubernetes administration.
• Experience with ROSA deployment and maintenance.
• Strong Linux system administration skills, especially with RHEL.
• Competency with AWS infrastructure components and management.
• Command-line interface expertise (OpenShift CLI oc, Kubernetes CLI kubectl).
• Container troubleshooting and performance diagnostics.
• Knowledge of OpenShift security, networking, storage, and RBAC concepts.
• Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools within Kubernetes and OpenShift environments.

Additional Desired Skills

• Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform and Ansible.
• Version control and CI/CD platforms including Git (GitHub, GitLab), Jenkins, and GitLab CI.
• Performance and monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and AWS CloudWatch.
• Container orchestration extensions like Helm, Argo CD, and Red Hat Advanced Cluster Management.
• Certifications such as Red Hat Certified Specialist, RHCSA, RHCE, AWS Solutions Architect, AWS SysOps Administrator, and Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) are beneficial.

Work Environment and Terms

This role is offered as a contract with potential for permanent employment based on preference. The daily contract rate ranges from 225 to 240. The client prefers hybrid work, requiring attendance at the Dublin office two days each week.
