Role Overview
This opportunity is for an enthusiastic and driven Registered Nurse interested in advancing their teaching abilities within the critical care setting. Joining the Clinical Education team, the successful candidate will mainly provide support to staff in Intensive Care and High Dependency Units.
Key Responsibilities
The role involves spending substantial time in clinical areas, collaborating closely with nursing personnel to enhance their skills and knowledge and identify educational needs. Responsibilities extend to mentoring pre-registration students, recently qualified nurses, and new departmental staff including Health Care Support Workers. The Clinical Educator will also contribute to delivering a competency-based training programme tailored for recently graduated staff.
As one of two lead Clinical Educators in critical care, the postholder will oversee the education team in this specialization and partner with Senior Charge Nurses and the Clinical Nurse Manager to optimize educational opportunities aligned with staff requirements.
Qualifications and Experience
The candidate must be a Registered Nurse holding an ordinary level nursing or healthcare degree (or an equivalent qualification). Evidence of career development in critical care nursing, covering both intensive care and high dependency areas, is essential. A post-registration qualification in critical care nursing is desirable, alongside credentials as a Practice Supervisor. Demonstrated experience in teaching and supporting new staff in critical care settings is required.
