Clinical Coder

Role Overview

We are seeking a diligent Clinical Coder to review patient medical records and assign proper diagnosis and procedure codes according to applicable standards. This role requires collaboration with clinical teams to verify documentation accuracy and ensure coding compliances.

Key Responsibilities

• Examine medical records thoroughly to accurately assign diagnosis and procedure codes.
• Ensure completeness of documentation and consult clinical personnel to clarify coding inquiries.
• Adhere strictly to coding guidelines, payer rules, and privacy protocols.
• Assist in coding audits, resolve any discrepancies identified, and sustain precise coding documentation.

Qualifications and Experience

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management, Clinical Coding, or a related discipline is required.
• At least two years of clinical coding experience, ideally within a hospital setting.
• Familiarity with ICD-10 and other procedural coding systems like CPT or HCPCS as relevant to the healthcare facility.
• Possession of a professional coding certification such as CPC or CCS is advantageous.
• Excellent understanding of medical terminology combined with strong analytical aptitude, accuracy in coding, and commitment to confidentiality.
