Cleaning Operative

Role Location and Schedule

This position is based at Arena Shopping Park in Coventry, a combined indoor and outdoor retail space featuring over 35 shops and eateries. Working hours total 37.5 per week, distributed over 5 days within a 7-day period.

Pay and Support

Position Summary

This permanent role entails maintaining cleanliness and tidiness to enhance the shopping experience with customer focus as a priority.

Main Responsibilities

• Perform routine cleaning tasks indoors and outdoors including dust mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, and litter removal.
• Operate ride-on floor scrubber dryers for floor maintenance.
• Carry out sanitation duties in public restrooms, including mirror, door and fixture cleaning, floor mopping, and urinal upkeep.
• Manage waste by emptying bins, collecting from retail outlets, and organizing recycling or compacting waste within designated areas.
• Conduct litter picking in parking lot areas.
• Ensure cleaning tools and equipment are well maintained and supplies are replenished as needed.
• Provide support to team supervisors to maintain high-quality service standards.
• Participate in training sessions as provided.

Required Qualifications and Traits

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize and manage tasks independently.
• Capable of working both autonomously and collaboratively.
• Polite and approachable demeanor.
• Previous cleaning experience in both indoor and outdoor environments is mandatory.
• Proficient English speaking skills.
• Flexibility to work shift patterns starting as early as 6am or finishing as late as 9pm once weekly.

Preferred Experience

• Familiarity with various cleaning machinery such as scrubber dryers, buffers, carpet cleaners, and road sweepers is advantageous.
