Job description
Position Overview
The U.S. Embassy in London is seeking a committed Cleaner to become part of the Facilities team. This is a permanent full-time position located at the Embassy site, offering a professional working environment with comprehensive benefits.
Core Duties
- Executing cleaning responsibilities as per daily, weekly, and monthly schedules across Embassy buildings.
- Sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, waxing floors, and vacuuming or shampooing carpets and furniture.
- Cleaning windows, glass, metal surfaces, bathrooms, kitchen appliances, and dusting all areas including elevated spots.
- Maintaining outdoor areas such as walkways and solar panels.
- Operating cleaning equipment like vacuum cleaners, floor polishers, and carpet cleaning machines.
- Preparing government properties for new occupants by cleaning prior to move-in and post move-out.
- Assisting with cleaning during office relocations and special events.
- Addressing urgent cleaning requests and reporting maintenance or damages to supervisors.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Completion of elementary education or equivalent.
- Prior experience in commercial or residential property cleaning.
- Competency in English language skills including speaking, reading, and writing.
- Possession of a current full manual UK/EU/EEA driver's license (Class B), with ability to operate a van safely in central London.
