Job Overview

This role involves performing cleaning duties within premises as part of a team under the direction of a supervisor or authorized personnel.

Primary Responsibilities

• Use various cleaning techniques and equipment to sweep, mop, buff, spray clean, wax, machine scrub, strip and re-polish floors.
• Remove stains and clean soft floor surfaces such as carpets and mats appropriately.
• Clean toilet and shower areas including all fixtures and fittings.
• Wash, dust, and polish furniture and internal surfaces up to a height of 3.35 meters.
• Empty internal litter bins and transport litter to disposal points.

General Working Conditions and Compliance

• Comply with Health and Safety at Work (NI) Order 1978, COSHH regulations, statutory instruments, codes of practice, and other relevant legal requirements.
• Wear issued protective clothing and flat-soled enclosed-toe footwear during cleaning duties.
• Use and maintain cleaning equipment safely, reporting any faults immediately.
• Complete necessary documentation related to cleaning tasks.
• Cover for absent colleagues according to organizational procedures.

Training and Development

• Undertake induction and refresher training relating to the role and potentially higher grade duties.
• Adhere to equality obligations under Northern Ireland legislation, promoting good relations and equality of opportunity.

Additional Information

Employment involving work in educational institutions requires an Enhanced Disclosure Certificate, with payment terms to be provided upon employment.

Candidate Requirements

Applicants must explicitly demonstrate how they meet both essential and desirable criteria on their application to be considered. Essential experience includes knowledge of school cleaning duties, cleaning methods and machinery, and compliance with relevant health and safety legislation. Desired qualifications include at least three months’ cleaning experience outside a home environment and ability to operate commercial cleaning equipment such as buffing machines.
